Growing, Cooking & Learning Together in Patch to Plate
14 May 2026

The Patch to Plate program is a hands-on learning experience offered to all students in Reception-Year 2, combining gardening and cooking to help children explore where food comes from and how it is prepared. As a signature program in our Early Years sub-school, students have the opportunity to discover new ingredients, learn about seasonal produce, develop practical skills and explore new tastes, flavours and textures as they plant, harvest and prepare a range of simple and enjoyable meals.

Working in small groups, children are guided to follow recipes, measure ingredients and participate in food preparation activities that support collaboration and communication. The program also plays an important role in developing fine motor skills through activities such as chopping, mixing, stirring, planting and harvesting.

Patch to Plate encourages curiosity, healthy eating habits and a deeper understanding of food - from garden to plate.
