Senior School Programs

Senior School at King's

The senior years mark the transition from teenager to young adult. During these formative years, our students learn about themselves and their place in the world around them. We encourage our Senior School students to create a world view that is grounded in faith, encapsulating a heart of service and a passion for excellence in whatever they undertake. An important element of this period is the partnership between parents, students and staff to create an environment where students can flourish and develop fully into the person that God has made them to be.

Senior School students can choose from over 40 subjects along with options in the area of vocational education and headstart programs at university. A growth mindset instils habits of excellence in our students as they strive to be the best version of themselves in all aspects of their lives. A King’s graduate is ready to have an impact upon their local, national and global communities.

Learning in Years 10-12

At King’s, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our Christ-centred approach to education is designed to ignite curiosity, encourage deep thinking, and foster lifelong learning. From our Early Learners through to our Year 12 graduates, students are supported by passionate educators who tailor learning experiences to each child’s needs and potential.

Across all year levels, our modern curriculum integrates foundational skills, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving, empowering students to flourish academically and personally.

Every Year 10-Year 12 student at King’s will take part in a variety of programs that are embedded into the Senior School experience. These activities are designed to support learning, build confidence and create lasting memories through hands-on experiences, leadership opportunities and community connection.

Our Core Programs include:

  • Australian Business Week (Signature Program)
  • Eley Cup
  • House Arts Day
  • House Games (Sports Day)
  • King's Career Hub
  • RAP (Road Accident Program)
  • Streetsmart
  • Year 10 Survivor Camp (Signature Program)
  • Year 12 Charity Ball

At King’s, every student’s learning journey is dynamic and personalised. We partner with families to support each student as they navigate the transition from childhood to adolescence and beyond, fostering the right balance of dependence, interdependence and independence. Through this, students are encouraged to build positive relationships that help them feel seen, valued and a genuine sense of belonging within our community.

Our Senior School students have access to a broad range of subjects and rich opportunities that inspire them to explore their interests and uncover their unique gifts, talents and passions. During final years of schooling, they are empowered to shape their own learning pathway through flexible subject selections, Vocational Education and Training (VET) options and SACE studies, giving them the confidence and courage to pursue their future with purpose.

Our passionate educators design engaging, purposeful learning experiences that equip students with foundational skills, critical thinking and real-world problem-solving abilities, helping them to grow academically, personally and spiritually.

Vocational Education & Training (VET) gives students skills for work, particularly in the traditional and non-traditional areas of industry. Students are able to build pathways in their SACE through VET, and students are encouraged to complete, or make significant progress towards completing, VET qualifications while completing the SACE.

Students that identify a trade or technical pathway and wish to pursue a VET course should make this clear when choosing their subjects. All students will choose a “full load” of subjects at subject selection and once VET arrangements are confirmed, students will be able to negotiate a study line or a modified subject load to suit their pathway. Most VET courses will begin in Year 11, but it is important to identify pathways early as there may be opportunity for ‘taster’ courses to be provided.

Co-Curricular Programs

At King’s, we believe some of the most powerful learning happens beyond the classroom. Our students are given every opportunity to discover who they are and what ignites their passion. We see the whole world as a source of wonder and a place where each student can make a meaningful contribution.

Through a wide range of co-curricular and service learning programs, students are encouraged to explore new interests, build friendships, and grow in confidence. We believe every child has God-given talents to be nurtured, and our co-curricular opportunities are designed to develop those gifts, helping students deepen their skills and flourish in all areas of life.

Senior School Signature Programs

King’s is proud to offer a number of Signature Programs that are distinctive to our school and reflect our values, vision and commitment to excellence. Our programs are designed to grow students’ resilience, character and faith. They’re about more than content - they’re about forming the whole child and preparing young people for school life, and beyond.

Australian Business Week (ABW) is an exciting and immersive House competition undertaken by all Year 10 students at King’s. This dynamic program challenges students to work in teams to manage a virtual business, making critical decisions that shape their company’s success.

Throughout the week, teams are tasked with creating, developing, and marketing a unique product, including designing a prototype and presenting at an interactive trade show. Mentored by revered business professionals, students gain invaluable insight into the world of business and learn firsthand what it takes to bring a product to market.

The program is designed to equip students with the essential skills required for a future in the workplace. As recognition for their contribution to the week, students earn 10 credits toward their SACE, celebrating their achievements and the collaborative spirit of ABW.

Throughout Term 3, Senior School students are invited to take part in the exciting 'Battle of the Artists' competition, showcasing their musical talents in weekly heats. The competition is divided into two categories: House, where students from the same House form groups, and Open, where students from different Houses can come together to create a band or ensemble. Performances are held during lunchtime, with enthusiastic support from peers and a panel of judges.

Weekly winners progress to the highly anticipated finals, which take place on House Arts Day at the end of the term. This lively event provides a fantastic platform for students to showcase their God-given gifts and connect with the school community, celebrating creativity, musical expression, and exceptional talent within our Senior School.

King’s has a proud tradition of producing high-quality musical productions through our annual Middle/Senior School Musical. Open to students in Years 6-12, this captivating co-curricular program invites students to audition, rehearse and collaborate to present some of Broadway’s most beloved shows, bringing them to life in front of enthusiastic audiences from across our school community and beyond.

More than just a performance, our musicals offer an immersive experience where students gain valuable insight into both on-stage and behind-the-scenes roles, from acting, dancing and singing, to lighting, sound and set design.

With guidance from passionate, experienced staff and volunteers, students refine their skills, build confidence and discover new passions in a fun and supportive environment that allows them to discover their full creative potential. Performed in our state-of-the-art auditorium, these productions provide an authentic, professional theatre experience, helping students understand the dynamics of live performance and the hard work that goes into a successful show.

The Rijken Cup is an elite sporting competition hosted by SACSA, where students come together to celebrate faith through sport. This week-long event sees Year 11 and 12 students from Christian schools across the state compete in six different sports, with the combined results determining the overall champion.

Students experience this competition as a live-in, camp-style event, creating lasting memories and strong bonds with their peers. King’s has a proud history of success at the Rijken Cup, taking home the title in two of the past three years and finishing runner-up in the third – a marker of the school’s sporting success and excellence.

The Rijken Cup is a standout highlight of the Senior School calendar, offering a unique blend of high-level competition, camaraderie and personal growth that students carry with them long after their time at the school.

A key milestone in the transition from Middle School to Senior School is the annual Year 10 Survivor Camp, held at the beginning of Term 1. This House-based camp challenges students to step outside their comfort zones, working together in teams to tackle a series of physical, mental and logic tasks.

Each challenge is designed to test their resilience, teamwork and problem-solving skills, with points awarded toward daily prize incentives such as movie nights, pub meals, or upgraded cabin accommodations. The results from the camp also contribute to the prestigious Eley Cup, fostering a sense of healthy competition and House spirit amongst our Year 10 cohort.

The Survivor Camp is a transformative experience that allows students to build stronger bonds with their peers, develop leadership skills and gain confidence as they enter Senior School. It's an opportunity for students to discover their strengths while embracing dynamic new challenges. Many graduating Year 12 students reflect on Survivor Camp as one of the most memorable and defining experiences of their journey at King’s, leaving a lasting impact well beyond the camp itself.
