Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care at King's

King’s Baptist Grammar School is a place where every student is seen, heard, known, and feels a sense of love. Our school is a place of connection and belonging in which reciprocal relationships between staff, students and families reflect (and invite us into) the perfect relationship of our triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

At King’s, we believe pastoral care isn’t just for our students; it’s about walking alongside and uplifting our families, too. Whether you’re a new families to King's or continuing your journey with us, our passionate team is excited to welcome and support you.

Our Pastoral Care Program is unique initiative, designed to strengthen and encourage our school families. Our heart is to support those already apprenticing to Jesus while also fostering a community where every family - no matter where they are in their faith journey - is heard, known, seen, and loved. Together, we hope to live out the gospel in both intentional and invitational ways, creating a culture of belonging, encouragement, and joy.

Our focus is to:

  • Strengthen families
  • Support people in their parenting journeys
  • Live the gospel of Jesus in community
  • Have fun along the way

Introducing our School Pastors

At King’s, we understand that a strong, caring community extends beyond the classroom. Pastoral care is at the heart of who we are, supporting not only our students, but also their families as they navigate the joys and challenges of life.

Our dedicated pastoral team is committed to walking alongside families, offering encouragement, guidance, and a kind, listening ear. Through their care, they help foster a culture of connection, belonging and support, where every member of the King’s Community is known and valued.

At King’s, we recognise the vital role of pastoral care not only for our students but also for their families.

Paul and Rebecca Drury share the responsibility of providing pastoral support to school families, with a particular focus on parents and caregivers.

Paul brings a wealth of experience from 25 years of self-employment in business, while Rebecca has a strong background in pastoral care and community development. As parents of four children who have all attended King’s, and as members of the staff team at King’s Baptist Church, they are deeply connected to both the school and church communities.

Their role is to walk alongside parents through the challenges and joys of family life, with the aim of strengthening relationships and supporting the wellbeing of families. They also seek to encourage those following Jesus to live out the gospel in everyday life within our community.

Sharon Dutton is the Children’s and Families Pastor at King’s Baptist Church and has the privilege of contributing to the personal and spiritual well-being of students and families in ELC to Year 5.

A familiar face in the King’s Community, Sharon is both a parent of three King’s graduates and a seasoned Early Years educator with over fifteen years of experience. In her current role as Pastor to Children and Families at King’s Baptist Church, she feels honoured to continue serving the community that holds a special place in her heart.

Her time dedicated to the Early Years and Junior School is a wonderful opportunity to help strengthen children and families and encourage them to deepen their relationship with Jesus. The church ‘King’s Kids’ Playgroup is one place where Sharon hopes families can begin to experience our ‘better, together’ vision.
