In Term 2, our school community came together for a very special Bonfire (Chapel) service to celebrate Founder’s Day - a time to honour the faithful beginnings of King’s and the incredible legacy left by those who came before us.
Set against the uplifting sounds of Firm Foundation and Glorious Day, performed by one of our talented Senior School bands, the service centred on the theme Faithful Beginnings, inspired by Matthew 25:21 - “Well done, good and faithful servant!” It was a time of storytelling and reflection, led beautifully by our Prefects, who helped us explore the importance of faithfulness as a Fruit of the Spirit.
One of the most memorable parts of the morning was a panel interview with three of the individuals who helped bring King’s to life - Mr Ron Brimblecombe, Mr Trevor Brimblecombe and Mrs Joy Earles. They shared powerful memories of the challenging but faith-filled early days, when King’s began in the basement of a church. Their stories were marked by courage, sacrifice, and a deep trust in God's plan. We also heard from former staff - Mrs Chris Dunt, Mr Wayne Lawrence, Mr Mark Smedley and former Principal Mr Russell Eley - who spoke of the school’s humble beginnings, moments of bold faith and the heart behind the King’s Community.
These reflections reminded us that the fruit we enjoy today is the result of seeds planted long ago - often through quiet acts of sacrifice, vision and steadfast faith. To close the service, we stood as a community to recognise and honour our Founders, founding families, former staff and board members with heartfelt applause. It was a moving tribute to those who answered God’s call and laid the foundation for the vibrant school we know today.
As we continue to grow and serve, we remain deeply grateful for their legacy and proud to still call many of them cherished members of the King’s Community.
"His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”" (Matthew 25:21)
