Subject Overview

At Stage 1, students begin to develop the knowledge, skills, and understandings to engage in business contexts in the modern world. They consider the opportunities and challenges associated with start-up businesses, and consider how digital and emerging technologies may present opportunities to enhance business models and analyse the responsibilities and impact of proposed business models on global and local communities. Students develop and apply their understanding of the following learning strands, including:

  • Innovation
  • Finding and solving problems
  • Business information and communication
  • Financial awareness and decision making
  • Global, local and digital connections

Assessment

Stage 1 assessment is comprised of 100% school-based assessment. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Assessment Type 1: Business Skills (70%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Business Pitch (30%)

Examination:

  • This subject does not have an Examination at the end of the semester.
