In late-Term 2, our Year 3 students embarked on a significant milestone in their school journey - their very first overnight camp at AFL Max! This experience was more than just a fun excursion; it marked an important step in building independence, resilience and connection outside the classroom.
Throughout the camp, students took part in a variety of engaging activities - from obstacle courses and teamwork challenges to skill-building games that encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones. The overnight stay on the indoor oval was a highlight for many, offering a safe and exciting opportunity to practise being away from home. Guided by the enthusiastic AFL Max team, the program also incorporated elements of fitness, nutrition and mindfulness - helping students to grow not just physically, but emotionally and socially as well.
This camp forms the first of our Junior School camp experiences, followed by two-night camps in Years 4 and 5. At King’s, we view camps as more than a tradition - they are a carefully designed part of our approach to education, supporting students in developing confidence, independence and a sense of adventure. For many students, Year 3 Camp is the beginning of discovering their own capabilities, setting the stage for continued growth in the years ahead.
