Subject Overview

Students develop the practical, production technique, research and analytical skills associated with their chosen focus area of the Creative Art. Areas of choice include Drama and Filmmaking. Students choose a role in either a dramatic performance (on or off stage) OR as a filmmaker. Students focus on improving their knowledge, understanding and development of practical skills and production techniques, reflect on their progress, and research a practitioner or technique that is specific to their chosen field. Collaboration is a major focus, as students prepare elements of a production for public display.

Students undertake study in Stage 1 Creative Arts: Drama and Filmmaking through the following topics:

  • Creative Arts Product
  • Inquiry
  • Skills Focus

Assessment

Stage 1 assessment is comprised of 100% school-based assessment. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Assessment Type 1: Product (50%)
  • Assessment Type 2: Folio (50%)

Examination:

  • This subject does not have an examination at the end of the semester
