Subject Overview
Students develop knowledge, skills, and understanding of the nature, type and structure of the workplace. They learn about the value of work to society, future trends in the world of work, workers’ rights and responsibilities.
Students can undertake learning in the workplace and develop and reflect on their capabilities, interests and aspirations. The subject may include the undertaking of vocational education and training (VET) as provided under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Students undertake study in Stage 1 Workplace Practices through the following topics:
- The Impact of Technology in the Workforce
- Workers Rights and Responsibilities
- Vocational Learning (VET)
- Employability Skills Reflection
Assessment
Stage 1 assessment is comprised of 100% school-based assessment. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
- Assessment Type 1: Folio (40%)
- Assessment Type 2: Performance (40%)
- Assessment Type 3: Reflection (20%)
Examination:
- This subject does not have an examination at the end of the semester.
