Topics cover a diverse range of applications of mathematics including personal financial management, the statistical investigation process, modelling using linear functions, matrices and discrete models.

Students undertake study in Stage 2 General Mathematics through the following topics:

  • Topic 1: Modelling with Linear Relationships
  • Topic 2: Modelling with Matrices
  • Topic 3: Statistical Models
  • Topic 4: Financial Models
  • Topic 5: Discrete Models

Assessment

Stage 2 assessment is comprised of 70% school-based assessment which is externally moderated by the SACE Board and 30% external assessment which is externally marked by the SACE Board. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

70% School Based Assessment:

Assessment Type 1: Skills and Applications Tasks (40%)

  • Topic tests on Topics 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Assessment Type 2: Mathematical Investigation (30%)
