Pathway: Sport Athlete is a qualification designed to provide athletes with the skills and knowledge to manage their personal brand, finances, wellbeing and training, while also preparing them for promotional activities and potential career opportunities in the sporting sector.

Further Study: Students will be provided some scaffolding to enter a Stage 2 Physical course through topics such as:

  • Focus on practical skills: The course emphasizes developing practical skills relevant to an athlete's career, such as developing an athlete's personal brand, managing personal finances, and maintaining wellbeing.
  • Fitness Program Design: Developing and instructing exercise programs for their individual sport.
  • Skill Development: Develop an understanding of the theoretical concepts relating to skill development.

Stage 2 Pathway:

  • Integrated Learning (Sport Focus)

  • Students aiming to complete the Stage 2 in Physical Education will be required to show exceptional endeavour and results within this course.

Career Pathways:

  • It provides a pathway for individuals seeking to pursue a career as a professional athlete; potentially leading into income opportunities such as appearance payments, prize money, grants or endorsements, sport and coaching, recreational management and personal training.

Selection Criteria

Students may be asked to complete an interview, classes or provide evidence of the following:

  • Represent at a significant number of training sessions per week.

  • Displayed a commitment to improving in an ongoing growth mindset.

  • Have a desire to improve performance in their chosen field.

Assessment

The course covers competency-based modules, consisting of several key practical assessments, as well as written tasks for each module. Students will be required to complete homework regularly throughout this course.

ATAR:

A completed Certificate III in Sport Athlete will contribute a maximum of 45 Stage 2 SACE credits and can be used towards a student’s ATAR calculation at the end of Year 12.

Subject Fee:

Please note this subject incurs a resource fee of $600.
