Subject Overview
door Education consists of three focus areas. The learning through these focus areas enable students to develop and extend the core skills, knowledge and understanding required to be safe, active, and informed participants in the natural environment. The core skills, knowledge and understanding are integrated in each of the focus areas and developed through experiential learning in the context of activities and journeys in natural environments. Students study all focus areas.

The King’s Outdoor Education Year 11 curriculum provides students opportunity to learn and apply technical skills and reflect on their personal, group and social development. These focus areas are developed as part of the following activities:
- Kayaking
- Rock Climbing
Stage 1 Outdoor Education B will involve one-to-two compulsory camp experiences and/or day trips.
Assessment
Stage 1 assessment is comprised of 100% school-based assessment. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
- Assessment Type 1: About Natural Environments (30%)
- Assessment Type 2: Experiences in Natural Environments (70%)
Examination:
- This subject does not have an examination at the end of the semester
