Subject Overview
Information Processing and Publishing focuses on the use of technology to design and implement information processing solutions. The subject emphasises the acquisition and development of practical skills in the Adobe Suite of software, with a focus on desktop publishing and business documents.
Students develop solutions to text-based design problems, using imagination and creativity to make proposals and choices. They use the design process to apply problem-solving, critical-thinking, decision-making and skills of evaluation. Students learn to question the principles used in design, and the methods and resources used in the development of products.
Throughout their learning, students are provided with opportunities to develop an appreciation of the current social, legal and ethical issues that relate to the processing, management, and communication of text-based information, and to assess their impact on individuals, organisations and society.
Students undertake study in Stage 2 Information Processing and Publishing through the following topics:

Assessment
Stage 2 assessment is comprised of 70% school-based assessment which is externally moderated by the SACE Board and 30% external assessment which is externally marked by the SACE Board. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

There is also scope within the subject to incorporate web-based design topics if this is an area of interest for individual students.
